about
*** I will donate any net proceeds from any downloads of this song on Bandcamp for one year to McDougall Recovery House. ***
This song is a testament to what a great place Alberta is to live. It’s the story of my husband Harold and I moving here and falling in love with this great Province and its Country Music Roots.
I wrote it during a Covid lockdown while attending an online songwriting course with Berklee School of Music. It is exciting to have Danny Hooper singing it.
I am spearheading an initiative to help empower women in their second phase of recovery from addiction. At this stage, they have completed some rehabilitation and are focused on staying in a safe, drug-free environment like the one McDougall House offers them. From here, they can look for work, continue to heal, and begin new lives.
On the release date of each of the five songs in my “City Girl Goes Country Music Series,” My husband Harold and I will donate $2,000, for a total of $10,000 to McDougall House! *The Gail and Harold Taylor Foundation

lyrics
LOVE FOR COUNTRY MUSIC
They Touched down in Alberta
Many years ago
Pulled on their cowboy boots
And never let go
Workin’ everyday till the sun went down
White-collar in a blue-collar town,
And nobody gave a damn, cause they
Fell in love with country music
It was a dream come true,
They even tried the two-step
After a few cold brews, Singin’
Along to all the honky-tunes
Friday night at the Cook County Saloon
That’s how they did - that’s how they do
Their love for country music
Love for country music
The folks that they encountered,
Were rednecks and lefties,
But every single one of them,
Made them feel at home
Workin’ everyday till the sun went down
White-collar in a blue-collar town,
And nobody gave a damn, cause they
Fell in love with country music
It was a dream come true,
They even tried the two-step
After a few cold brews, Singin’
Along to all the honky-tunes
Friday night at the Cook County Saloon
That’s how they did - that’s how they do
Their love for country music
Love for country music
The rivalry with Calgary and Edmonton was fun,
Either with the Oilers or the Flames on the run,
The big blue sky, the Rocky Mountain Range
The perfect Landscape, The perfect change, and they
Fell in love with country music
It was a dream come true
They even tried the two-step,
After a few cold brews, Singin’
Along to all the honky-tunes
Friday night at the Cook County Saloon
That’s how they did - that’s how they do
Their, love for country music
OHH their Love that country music
OHH, their love for country music,
Oh, don’t you Love that country music

I'm in the process of reinventing myself as a songwriter and musician.
After a quarter
of a century in the financial world, I was dreaming of a second calling. I didn't start this new journey until shortly before I turned 60, so sometimes it feels like I'm in a race with the clock! Then, I realize I'm having so much fun that it's all good. I would love to use my music to generate social messages....more
